These are the most popular fashion trends in the 90s :
- Slip Dresses
- Plaid Flannel Shirt
- Plaid Skirts
- Overalls
- Swirl Patterns
- Cropped Shirts
- Faux Fur Coats
- Tie-Dye Anything
- Velvet Suits
- Corset tops
And so many more!
Every girl always needs accessories to go with those trending outfits.
1. Stick on Earrings
As a girl in elementary school, it often felt like your friends were divided into two tribes: Those who'd had their ears pierced since day one, and those whose parents refused to let them until they reached 16. If you were one of the unfortunate wretches in the latter tribe, these were your saving grace.
2. Scrunchies
As a school kid in the '90s, your ponytail was likely worth nothing if it wasn't adorned with a pretty, puffy cotton or Lycra scrunchie in pastels, pinks, or prints. Why not rekindle your scrunchie style while professing your love for dolly mixtures with this sweet treat?
3. Snap Bracelets
Providing me with hours of fun in tedious math lessons and long car journeys, snap (or slap) bracelets were colorful, simple, and usually cost mere cents to purchase. Relive those carefree days in your next boring boardroom meeting with a fierce animal-print version (just make sure you actually get some work done, too).
4. Butterfly Clips
The key to mastering the butterfly clip trend, was to fill your hair with as many of these multicoloured pieces as possible.
A quintessential part of the late ’90s and early ’00s, the butterfly clip became a staple to style up any hairstyle.
However, the magic was lost as soon as they were swapped out for bobby pins.
5. Best Friend Necklaces
When it came to make-or-break friendships in the early 2000s, there was mainly one rule of thumb: A best friend duo didn’t exist unless you owned one of these necklaces.
However, those same friendships were always tested when deciding who would get the “Best” and who would be stuck with the “Friend”.
6. Power Beads
Whether pink, purple, or multicolored, these beaded babies were one of my wrist regulars throughout the late '90s. Often touted to be "mystical healing beads," I'm no advocate for their spiritual powers, but they are a great way to give any outfit a bohemian vibe.
7. Bandana's
This one is definitely a multitasking accessory because there are many ways to use this. You can wear bandana around your head, around your neck, around your thigh or as a belt.
You can tie it to your backpack as bow or just a knot, or use it as a tank top (and don’t forget to tie it tight, make sure it is really secure). Use it however you like. They will give you the ultimate ‘90s vibes.
8. Chokers
Even though the ‘90s fashion was two decades ago, the trends are still so relevant today. Chokers have been a part of the fashion for quiet a while now. Especially when they were on the peak of their fame, in the ‘90s, everyone had them. And when I say everyone, I mean every single person; models, musicians, actors, etc. You can see many people weraing tattoo choker neklace. They were almost synonymous with the ‘90s. No wonder chokers were so popular, they look fabulous.
9. Mood Rings
Rings that show your emotional state via a color changing stone, even writing this was fun. Imagine how fun it is to wear one. Mood rings were round or oval. And the stone actually changes color depending on your body temperature, so there is no magic unfortunatelly. Each color; purple, blue, green, etc. , associated with a feeling; happy, sad, angry, etc. Many teenagers loved them so much, wore them to school or mall all the time.
10. Baby G Watch
These super cute baby-g watches were another favorite from the ‘90s. They had bright and lively colors and because of that many kids and teenagers were very attracted to them. And they were able to withstand many rough conditions, so this is a good feature too. You could wear baby-g watches everywhere, they look super cute with any outfit that you wear.
Now lets get into the toys you had or the ones you wanted and begged your parents to buy them for you every birthday and christmas.
1. Tamagotchi
Tamagotchi may have gotten some upgrades over the years to compete with the allure of tablets, streaming services and cell phones, but this version is strictly for the purists. Tamagotchi Original Paradise contains all of the original programming—down to the yellow and blue swirly backdrop and graphics so questionable you just have to remind yourself you’re caring for uh, some kind of alien, to justify why you’re not sure what you’re looking at.
2. Moon Shoes
Your parents wouldn’t buy you these “mini trampolines for your feet,” but now that you’re grown, you call the shots…as long as you wear an adult size 9 (or smaller) and weigh less than 160 pounds, that is.
3. Doodle Bear
If you were the kid who secretly wanted a cast, just so everyone could sign it—or who constantly got in trouble for “beautifying” your dolls with Magic Marker—this was the toy for you. Doodle Bear comes with three washable markers, encouraging you to draw all over the stuffed animal, then toss it in the wash and do it all over again. In honor of its 25th anniversary, it’s gotten a very ‘90s distressed-denim makeover.
4. Polly Pocket
Polly, you’ve changed. For one thing, she’s grown from fingernail-sized to a little over an inch tall (making her less of a choking hazard, one might assume). And she’s ditched that curly bob for space buns and ponytails. But really, the coolest change is her home, which has gone from pocket-sized to a full-blown purse you can wear on your shoulder. Seriously, her Tropicool Pineapple house features a hammock bunk bed, zipline and pet giraffe.
5. Balancing Birds
That dollar-store favorite can still be found—and you can actually buy ‘em in bulk on Amazon. You might be thinking, “Isn’t it just a plastic bird that balances on your finger?” You’d be right.
6. Furby
Nothing takes us back to Christmas 1998 quite like E.T.-pitched gibberish and dead-eyed stare of Furby, the little animatronic who made you wonder just how closely it was listening to your every word. (And yet, you had to have him.) The latest Furby is far more expressive—to the tune of 150 different eye animations—and it gets updates and learns via an app. But, honestly, the best part may be that the lil’ guy comes with a sleep mask, so he’ll no longer wake you up at 3 a.m. with creepy coos from your closet.
7. Littlest Pet Shop
The original collectibles looked a lot more realistic, it’s true, but the new class of pocket-sized pets features all kinds of ways to customize them, thanks to interchangeable hats, crowns, collars and cuffs. If you balk at this bobbleheaded deviation from your childhood fave, know that you’re not alone: There’s a whole change.org petition begging Hasbro to bring back the classic design.
8.Easy-Bake Oven
Technically, the Easy-Bake Oven’s been around since 1963, but ‘90s kids everywhere remember it fondly. Even if it did take a small eternity for that little lightbulb to cook your single-serving cake. The oven hasn’t heated foods using incandescent bulbs since 2003, and you can make a whole lot more than cakes with it. Refill kits include ingredients to make soft pretzels and cheese pizzas.
9. Betty Spaghetty
What, you don’t remember Betty Spaghetty, the rubbery doll whose feathered bangs were only rivaled by her Rapunzel-like, equally rubbery hair? Well, it’s time you got acquainted. The 2020 version trades her Farrah Fawcett fringe for more of-the-moment rainbow streaks. But you can still bedazzle her hair with beads and clips, just like the OG.
10. Bop It
The youths today may be all about games that involve exploding kittens and trying not to step in fake dog poop, which is why it’s your civic duty to introduce them to this throwback. And then school them in it.
11. Troll Dolls
Troll dolls have actually been around since 1959 and were popular in the '60s, '70s, and '90s, so who knows? Maybe they'll have another go-around. (And no, I don't mean the weird-looking ones from the Dreamworks movies.)
12. Beanie Babies
Beanie Babies still technically exist, but unlike the originals, they have eyes that look like the ones from the pleading eyes emoji. Hard pass. Plus, as with Furbies, I highly doubt we'll ever see these little guys become as popular as they once were.
13. Buzz Lightyear
To infinity and beyond! Yes, it’s Buzz Lightyear in his most nostalgic form – the 1995 action figure that came out just after the original Toy Story. Straight from the Disney store, this figure is new but exactly like the original from Thinkway Toys. Press his chest bars to hear over 30 phrases and sounds that will take you back to watching the movie for the first time!
This action figure was a wonder in the ‘90s, with its light-up, extendable wings, retracting face shield, karate-chopping arm and more! It’s just as fun today as it was then and will be a hit among kids and nostalgic adults alike.
14. PlayStation
The PlayStation kickstarted Sony’s gaming career and made them an insanely popular household name. Selling over 102 million consoles in its lifetime, the PS1 and some of the console’s greatest games still sum up the 90s perfectly. Spyro the Dragon, Tekken, Tomb Raider; they all send me hurtling back in an instant.
Some of you reading this might not even remember having a controller on a wire or the hushed whispers when someone announced that they had just got their PlayStation chipped at the local second-hand games store. Those were the days!
15. Art Box
This was the best Christmas present if you fancied yourself a bit of an artist. I mean if you know, you know!
16. Mouse Trap
One of those board games that was advertised SO much during Saturday Disney, you were basically guaranteed to get it for your birthday.
